Preserving: Our Canadian Food Tradition - PODCAST

This post is part of The Canadian Food Experience Project, a commitment by food writers across Canada to post on a common monthly topic in celebration of Canadian food culture. This month's task is to write about 'Preserving: Our Canadian Food Tradition.'

I'll chat about preserving anytime, anywhere, and with anyone. It takes strength for me to walk by a market stall of brightly coloured jams, jellies, chutneys, pickles and relishes and not stop to chat with the vendor about the joy of putting food in jars. So when fellow Victoria-based food blogger, Jen Reiher of The Victorian Food Blog suggested we pair up for this month's edition of The Canadian Food Experience Project, I quickly accepted. She has lots of good ideas like that.

Jen has been recording the Food Nerd Podcast for several months now, and our conversation about canning and preserving marks the 10th episode. In it, we chat about the various reasons why Canadians preserve food, tools and tips, how canning works and a whole lot more.
