The paint colour is 'pond' by Sico Paints, and I used a paint with a melamine finish designed for furniture and cabinets. It's holding up well so far. Well, except for a few spots where my 4-year-old jabbed his fork into the table. Ha! I think any paint wouldn't hold up well to being jabbed with a fork.

I just started sanding my 30 year old Ikea pine table tonight! And I am using the exact same sander that you are using in your photo...and very seriously considering aqua, although maybe a tad lighter. Can you tell me what shade you used? I just painted my kitchen in Benjamin Moore's Limelight and Tropicana Cabana, which I love. My dining room walls are going to be grey. Also I am wondering how your table is holding up with the paint that you did use? I have a 1 yo and a 4 1/2 yo so it will definitely get grubby! Thanks in advance!

Ok Gotcha! I wouldn't know the first thing about this type of stuff, but its interesting and looks really fun. If you think you didn't do a good job then I would love to see how things would look it you THINK you did do a great job. The table looks fantastic to me!!!! Enjoyed your post and your blog too :)

Thanks! I sanded the table first so that the paint would stick and not chip and peel off. I didn't do a very thorough job sanding, though, just gave the surface a good scratching, and if the paint chips in some places that might look really nice over time :)
