Honey nut oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of my favourite breakfasts. It's warm, healthy, and there are so many yummy ways to have it that it never gets boring. My youngest son loves his oatmeal too, and this recipe makes the perfect amount to feed both our tummies at the start of our day.

The honey in this oatmeal lends just the right amount of sweetness, and the nuts offer protein which is something I try to fit into our first meal of the day. For me, the best part about oatmeal for breakfast is how quick it is. This bowl of hot yumminess took just a few minutes to make!

Here's how I made it:

1 1/2 cups water
3/4 cup quick cooking oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped nuts (I like a mix of almonds and walnuts)
1 tbsp honey

I brought the water to a boil in a small saucepan. Then I added the oats and cinnamon and lowered the heat to low, cooking and stirring for just two or three minutes. To finish, I transferred the oatmeal to a bowl and topped it with the nuts and drizzled on the honey. That's it!
